One touch, that’s all it takes.

And in that caress were words exchanged.

Thoughts, sentiment and boundless passion passed.

Gone was the future, banished was the past.

“Here, my heart,” she whispered her intent.

“Here, my trust,” was what she meant.

Vulnerable was she, rejection had shown her.

Stinging was the mark imprinted, she’d carry that burden.

Colder was the flame now chocked.

Welted had gone that ravishing red rose.

The arrow had found its target, but its shooter was no Cupid.

Aphrodite was baffled,

Anteros raged, livid.

Page after page,

Paige held her soul’s tome,

timid no longer.

Wiser.

Stronger.

Older.

Time brought handprints, some familiar some foreign.

Paige welcomed them all,

Her life richer for it.

Etched, she did, a vow in her heart.

“Dare to love again,” she courageously marked.
Something that kinda just poured out of me. Didn't really fight to put on 'paper'. Loved writing it--letting these warm and fuzzy feelings take over for a quick minute.

Hey there,

Prettyflour here on behalf of :iconpoeticalcondition: with the critique you requested.

I want to start by saying that I very much enjoyed this. You certainly know how to tell a story poetically.  I found your words choices to be simple and apt- the simplicity in them was quite powerful. Your opening line says SO MUCH- it captivated me and made me want to keep reading on.

You capture many emotions in this- the same emotions that come with love, and betrayal, and the fear and courage it takes to love again AFTER a betrayal.

I hope this is helpful, sorry that I did not have any constructive feedback to offer. I like this just the way it is. Thank you so much for sharing your words!
